Brad Keeler initially was a modeler for the company that produced the Academy Award Oscar statues, but ultimately he set out on his own in the mid-‘40s. His own company produced decorative items like pink flamingoes.
In 1956 Keeler developed the first successful, truly red glaze which he called “Ming Dragon Blood” and he featured this glaze in a “Ming” line of jars and planters. In the late 1950s he used this fabulous red in a line of buffet dishes featuring lobsters. A variety of bowls, shakers and platters were all made with these gloriously red lobsters.
This divided server features a red lobster seated over 2 lettuce leaf bowls. The details are incredible and the red couldn't be more vivid.
