At the same time there is a rigorous organization that brings all of the strong elements into a very pleasing whole. It has a rich, saturated palette of colors. I believe that it is a stone lithograph, but the artist may have used more than one technique. Born in California in 1953, Gary Denmark has been a Master printmaker for twenty plus years. Having been head printer at both Aurabora press and Smith Anderson editions and worked for Trillium Graphics, Denmark’s experiences are of considerable significance. The print is titled, numbered, signed and dated in the lower margin, "Diya VI, 32/60, Gary Denmark '98" all in pencil. The print measures 16 inches x 14 inches the image and 25 inches x 22 inches the sheet. It is in excellent, never-framed condition. I will ship rolled in a heavyweight tube.

This beautiful print is typical of Gary Denmark's exceptional aesthetic. Completely abstract, sensual surfaces play across compositions rich in color and playful in the symmetry of elements. Surface depth and organic shapes are contained in fields that lend themselves to overlapping and blurred edges. Both carved and sculpted elements full of color, or sometimes void of dense color, interplay in elegant balance giving both fluidity and structure to the work. Mr. Denmark's rich palette comes with an understanding of the need to open the surface allowing the papers luminosity to breathe through each work. It is a complete craftsman that understands each element and can bring them all into equilibrium. Mr. Denmark's printmaking background has given all his work a richer understanding of materials and their interactive effects. See less
