An atmospheric vintage photograph of Central Park’s Pond and the Manhattan skyline, printed circa 1936 according to a notation on the reverse. Taken from Gapstow Bridge, the view includes the Sherry-Netherland, Savoy-Plaza Hotel and Plaza Hotel.

Bare trees frame the architecture, while soft reflections across the water give the composition an almost painterly quality. The scene suggests late autumn or the approach of winter, capturing the contrast between the park’s quiet landscape and the monumental buildings along its southern edge.

The substantial print offers a compelling period view of New York during the 1930s. Unsigned; photographer unidentified.
