The elaborate dimensional headdress is built up with individually formed pottery elements in turquoise blue, green, cobalt, cream and earthy red tones, accented throughout with small decorative stones.

The richly layered decoration incorporates stylized faces, a feline motif, scrolling forms and botanical imagery, creating wonderful depth and texture. Openings at the eyes and mouth further emphasize the sculptural quality of the mask. The handmade construction and subtle irregularities are part of its folk-art character.

A wire loop at the top allows the piece to be displayed on the wall. See less
