A charming vintage Chinese stool crafted from solid elmwood, dating to the first half of the 20th century. The thick, narrow seat rests on slightly splayed legs joined by traditional stretchers, reflecting the straightforward, handcrafted construction of Chinese country furniture. Generations of use have given the elm a beautifully weathered, pale finish, with worn edges, visible joinery, natural irregularities, and a wonderfully rustic patina.
Tall and slender, this stool is as decorative as it is functional. Use it as occasional seating, beside a chair or bed, as a small plant stand, or simply as a sculptural accent topped with a favorite collected object.
