Believed to originate from france, they bring together naturalistic detail and the glamorous decorative spirit of hollywood regency.

inspired by giant clams of the genus tridacna, the shells feature deeply sculpted folds, undulating edges, and intricate growth-like ridges. Their broad, flowing silhouettes give them remarkable visual presence, while the interplay of raised surfaces and recessed details creates a beautiful sense of movement.

measuring approximately 12.6 inches wide each, these are substantial decorative sconces. Their generous proportions distinguish them from smaller examples of the shell motif, allowing the intricate modeling to be appreciated across a room. A depth of approximately 5.9 inches enhances their three-dimensional character: even when unlit, they read as sculptural objects on the wall.

once illuminated, the concealed light source creates a warm halo around each shell. Light washes across the wall and escapes around the irregular contours, producing an atmospheric interplay of light and shadow. The golden surfaces add warmth and richness, while subtle oxidation brings depth to the naturalistic texture.

an elegant choice for a palm beach residence, a sophisticated coastal retreat, or a hollywood regency interior, the pair would make a compelling statement flanking a mirror, framing an entryway console, or introducing sculptural accent lighting to a living room. Their organic contours are particularly effective against smooth plaster, pale walls, and richly colored backgrounds.

each shell is made of substantial cast metal with a gold-toned finish, believed to be gilt brass; the precise alloy and finish have not been confirmed. Each fixture weighs approximately 4.4 pounds.

each sconce slides onto a compact wall plate fixed with two screws. The orientation of the plate allows the shell’s alignment to be adjusted during installation. Slight movement within the slide-on fitting is an inherent characteristic of this mounting design.

the electrical components have been inspected by an electrician, and a protective ground connection has been added. Each fixture accommodates one e14 bulb. E14-to-e12 socket adapters are included for use with us candelabra-base bulbs. Intended for professional hardwired installation.
