This exquisite example of early 20th-century Chinese weaving utilizes the restrained aesthetic characteristic of the Peking style, perfectly rendered in this small scatter size format, emphasizing open space and subtle color transitions.

The central field is dominated by a warm, aged wool, establishing a serene foundation typical of ivory color rugs from this period. This subtle, luminous hue provides a perfect backdrop for the stylized navy blue and soft peach floral motifs that float gracefully across the surface.

A delicate central medallion anchors the design, surrounded by scattered floral sprays and scrolling vine work rendered in a precise, fluid line. The main border is a sophisticated study in symbolic representation, featuring various Chinese auspicious objects, including stylized vases and geometric forms, all contained within a deep indigo frame.

Woven during a prolific era for Chinese textile production, this piece reflects the high quality of wool and dye work achieved in the 1920s. It stands as a fine example among antique rugs that seamlessly blend traditional iconography with early modern design sensibilities, offering both historical depth and immediate decorative appeal.
