The cupboard is arranged with a pair of panelled doors to the front, opening to reveal two useful internal shelves offering generous storage. A single drawer provides additional concealed storage and complements the practical proportions of the piece. Particularly impressive is the decorative treatment throughout. The façade incorporates finely executed carved detailing together with contrasting ebony mouldings, creating depth and definition against the warm tones of the oak. These restrained decorative elements give the cupboard a strong architectural quality while retaining the robust character associated with Georgian country furniture. The oak itself displays an attractive natural grain, rich colour and beautifully developed tonal variation acquired through generations of use. The substantial proportions and solid construction further demonstrate the quality of the original cabinetmaking. At 154.5 cm high, the cupboard offers considerable storage while remaining versatile enough for a variety of interiors. It would work particularly well within a country house, dining room, entrance hall or living space, while its strong form and aged timber could also provide an appealing contrast within a contemporary setting. A highly decorative and functional example of 18th century English furniture, presented in good condition and ready for use. Dimensions: Height: 154.5 cm Width: 131 cm Depth: 60 cm See less
