It employs Western landscape painting perspective and spatial layering while retaining the scattered composition and negative space of Eastern art, representing "Chinese imagery" as seen through the eyes of European artists.

The mural uses a grayscale/monochrome technique, employing only gray, ochre, brown, and white tones, relying on variations in shade and intensity to express light and shadow, volume, and spatial depth. The style is elegant, understated, and sophisticated, avoiding the complexity and gaudiness of colorful Chinese-style wallpaper. It possesses significant decorative value.

This four-panel screen is ideal for entryways, hallways, dining rooms, studies, tea rooms, and reception rooms.

It fits formal classical style, neoclassical style, and American retro style. Its monochromatic nature is also suitable for medieval or modern mixed spaces as a contrasting and disruptive element. See less
