A winding path draws the eye through the composition, while warm terracotta, dusty rose, sage green, and soft blue create a particularly appealing color palette. Painted with loose, expressive brushwork in an Impressionist-influenced style, the scene is suggestive of the New Mexico or Arizona landscape. Signed and dated lower right, Larson '77.

JUNE'S THOUGHTS
What appeals to me about this painting is its wonderful use of color. The deep greens of the cypress trees against the warm adobe buildings and dusty mountains give the landscape a sense of depth and tranquility. The ornate gilt frame is an unexpected but pleasing contrast to the loose brushwork. At just 18 inches wide, it would be especially attractive in a reading corner or as part of a collected gallery wall.
