This vintage concrete fluted garden planter presents a broad, rounded bowl silhouette with a generous, slightly inturned rim and a low, softly curved base. The upper register is cast with a band of rhythmic, column-like vertical forms, each capped and footed with small turned details and textured with a bark-like, faux-bois grain, evoking a classical colonnade rendered in rustic stone. A pair of raised moldings separates this frieze from the lower body, which swells into a series of deep, gadrooned flutes that radiate toward the base. Crafted from cement, the surface has a mottled, richly weathered character, with speckled tones of bone white, pale ochre, charcoal, and mossy gray-green gathering in the recesses. Pitted textures and areas of smooth erosion contrast with the rough cast stone, giving the piece the look of an excavated garden antiquity. The patina deepens along the flutes and the carved relief, adding shadow and dimension. Sturdy and sculptural, the planter reads as both an architectural accent and a timeworn garden relic with a quiet, old-world presence.
Place this planter on a patio, terrace, or entry, flank a garden path or doorway, or use it indoors in a sunroom or conservatory, filled with boxwood, ferns, herbs, or seasonal blooms. It complements Traditional, Mediterranean, Rustic, Neoclassical, and Organic Modern settings. To care for it, brush away debris with a stiff brush, rinse gently with water, and avoid harsh chemicals or pressure washing to preserve the patina. Use a liner or saucer to protect floors, and shelter it from freezing, standing water in harsh winters. The planter measures 20 inches (508 mm) wide, 20 inches (508 mm) deep, and 14.75 inches (375 mm) high. Condition is good, with a weathered patina, minor chipping, and surface erosion that do not compromise its structure. Bring home this characterful garden piece today.
