When closed, the table presents a beautifully proportioned demi-lune profile measuring only 35.5 cm deep, allowing it to sit neatly against a wall as an elegant console or occasional table. The hinged top opens to create a substantially larger playing surface measuring approximately 70 cm deep. The interior is lined in traditional green felt, providing an attractive and practical surface for cards and games. The table is raised upon elegantly shaped Queen Anne-style legs, creating a graceful silhouette and complementing the restrained sophistication of the demi-lune form. The mahogany displays attractive natural grain and rich, warm colour throughout, enhanced by a mature patina developed through generations of age and use. Substantially constructed with a reassuring weight and presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its 18th-century origin. Its compact closed dimensions and adaptable design make this a particularly versatile piece, functioning equally well as a card table, games table, occasional table or demi-lune console. A desirable example of early English furniture ideally suited to both period and sophisticated contemporary interiors.
