The panelled bowl is surrounded by a distinctive gadrooned castle-top border, while the gallery is finely hand pierced with stylised symmetrical fretwork. The combination of geometric openwork and classical detailing gives the piece an attractive and sophisticated appearance. The bowl is elevated upon a circular stepped pedestal base with a wrapped-over construction, a traditional silversmithing technique used to provide additional strength and rigidity. Fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1927, with some age-related rubbing to the marks while remaining legible. Crafted entirely in sterling silver, the piece has a substantial net silver weight of approximately 306.1 grams. Presented in good antique condition with only minor age-related surface marks. There are no noted bruises, splits, holes, damage or repairs, and the piece remains free from later inscriptions or monograms. The silver retains a beautiful bright patina and is clean and ready for use or display. The gallery finely hand pierced with stylised symmetrical fret work.
