The vase follows the traditional Cong-inspired form, characterised by a strong square-section body that gives the piece a distinctive sculptural and geometric presence. Standing 35 cm high, its substantial proportions provide an excellent canvas for the elaborate hand-painted decoration. Executed in the vibrant famille verte and wucai palettes, the decoration combines rich greens with contrasting polychrome tones, creating a lively and visually engaging surface. The combination of colourful ornamentation and the restrained architectural form produces an appealing balance between decorative richness and structural simplicity. The Cong form has deep roots within Chinese artistic tradition, deriving inspiration from ancient ritual jade objects and subsequently being interpreted by Chinese ceramicists in porcelain and other materials. At 35 cm high, the vase has excellent decorative presence and would display beautifully on a console, sideboard, cabinet or pedestal. Its unusual square silhouette also makes it particularly effective as a standalone statement object within either traditional or contemporary interiors. Presented in good condition with general wear and character consistent with age. The piece is hand-painted and Chinese in origin.
