The removable cover is finely hand pierced with symmetrical fretwork and surmounted by a decorative turned finial. Subtle corded borders provide additional definition and complement the clean geometric character of the panelled body. The caster is raised upon a stepped panelled base, creating a well-balanced and architectural profile. The cover is secured by a traditional bayonet fitting, which remains in good working order and closes securely. Both components bear matching Birmingham hallmarks for 1932.

Crafted entirely in sterling silver, the piece has a substantial net silver weight of approximately 178.7 grams. Presented in very good antique condition with a beautiful bright patina and only minor age-related surface marks. There are no noted holes, damage or repairs, and the piece remains free from later engraved presentation inscriptions or monograms. The interior is clean, and the caster is ready for use or display.
