Measuring approximately 26 cm across, the piece has an impressive scale and richly decorative presence. The porcelain is finely hand-painted in the vibrant famille rose palette characteristic of Canton wares, with colourful enamel decoration creating an elaborate composition across both the body and cover. The combination of intricate detailing and strong polychrome colour gives the piece the opulent decorative quality for which 19th-century Chinese export porcelain is particularly admired. The generously proportioned rounded body is complemented by its fitted cover, creating an elegant and substantial silhouette.
