Each cylindrical stand is hand-painted with historical figures associated with the Wushuang Pu, or “Table of Peerless Heroes,” a celebrated series portraying notable personalities from Chinese history. The figures are traditionally accompanied by inscriptions and calligraphic elements, creating an appealing combination of portraiture, literature and decorative art. The famille rose palette introduces vibrant polychrome enamels across the porcelain surfaces, while the tall cylindrical forms provide an excellent canvas for the detailed compositions. Both pieces are signed, adding further interest to the pair. Standing approximately 27 cm high, the pair has excellent decorative presence and would display beautifully on a console, mantelpiece or cabinet, either positioned together or symmetrically within an interior. Originally conceived as hat stands, pieces of this form are now particularly attractive as decorative objects and collectibles, offering a distinctive expression of traditional Chinese porcelain craftsmanship. Both are presented in good condition with general age-related wear and character.
