The chest features five practical drawers, providing excellent storage despite its relatively small footprint. Each drawer retains its original decorative brass handles, which provide an elegant contrast against the richly coloured mahogany and contribute to the authentic period character of the piece. Throughout, the mahogany displays particularly attractive natural figuring and grain, complemented by a deep, warm colour and established patina that highlight the quality and character of the timber. The chest is raised upon traditional bracket feet, giving it a well-balanced and classically influenced appearance. At only 45 cm wide and 31.5 cm deep, its unusually compact proportions make it particularly useful where space is limited without sacrificing practical storage. Its versatile size allows it to function beautifully as a small chest of drawers, bedside chest or storage piece within a bedroom, hallway, drawing room or study. It could equally provide an elegant alternative to a conventional bedside table. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. A highly desirable and wonderfully versatile piece, combining beautifully figured mahogany, original decorative brass handles, five useful drawers and exceptionally practical compact proportions.
