This vintage lithograph presents a quietly contemplative portrait of a young girl in a soft, wide-brimmed hat, her head turned slightly over one shoulder as her gaze meets the viewer with calm composure. The image is built from fine, looping, calligraphic linework in warm sepia and russet tones, with curls escaping beneath the hat and the shoulders suggested through loose, layered contours. Delicate washes of blush, peach, and celadon green warm the face and garment and fill the pale green ground behind her. A subtle ornamental border of faint, script-like marks and column motifs frames the figure, lending a dreamlike, manuscript-inspired quality. The image floats within generous margins on soft, mottled, creamy paper, and what appear to be pencil inscriptions and a signature run along the lower edge, adding handwritten intimacy. A clear protective sleeve covers the sheet, preserving its tonal delicacy. Tender, nostalgic, and finely observed, the work captures expression through the lightest of touches.
Display this lithograph in a bedroom, nursery, dressing room, or library, or pair it with other figurative works in a gallery wall. It complements Traditional, Impressionist, Cottage, Transitional, and Grandmillennial interiors. To care for it, keep it out of direct sunlight, heat, and humidity, dust only the protective sleeve with a soft dry cloth, and have it framed with archival, acid-free materials and UV-protective glazing. The piece measures 19.5 inches (495 mm) wide, 0.5 inches (13 mm) deep, and 24 inches (610 mm) high. Condition is very good, with a well-preserved image, slight age-related yellowing, and no visible tears or significant creases. Bring home this charming portrait today.
