Derived from the traditional English Batwing design, the decoration pairs deep orange scalloped reserves with raised scrolling rococo gilding, pendant foliate flourishes, and clusters of colourful garden flowers on clean white porcelain. Each demitasse cup is potted from lightweight bone china with straight, gently tapering cylindrical sides, a plain foot, and an ear-shaped loop handle highlighted by gilt lining. The matching saucers have shallow wells and lobed rims, repeating the orange panels, foliate gilding, and bright floral bouquets around a plain central recess. Jackson and Gosling produced this service during the 1930s at their Grosvenor Works in Longton, Staffordshire, manufactured expressly for the London firm Waring and Gillow.

The underside of each cup and saucer carries the blue printed transfer backstamp reading 'Grosvenor China / made for / Waring & Gillow / LONDON', alongside small hand-painted pattern marks. The set is housed in an early twentieth-century wooden presentation case covered in black textured cloth and fitted with a ruched, padded cream satin lining contoured to cushion all twelve pieces. Each demitasse cup stands 5.5 cm high and 5.2 cm in diameter across the rim, with matching saucers measuring 11.5 cm across. Intended for formal after-dinner espresso or black coffee, the complete twelve-piece service represents high-grade English domestic tableware supplied by one of London's premier decorative furnishers.
