The matt biscuit surface provides a soft, unreflective ground for delicate hand-painted decoration in pastel tones, combining scrolling turquoise and gold cartouches around the shoulder with trailing pink floral sprays. The tall neck is divided by raised lime-green mouldings and painted with a central band of pink blossoms, rising to an ornate spire-like stopper. This cover features reticulated petal-like arches around its rim and a pierced sunburst crest, painted in coordinated shades of pink, yellow, blue and green. Around the widest point of the lower body, a subtle cobalt-blue chain border anchors the decoration above a green foot rim. Made in Paris by the celebrated modeller Jean Gille (often known as Gille Jeune), the vase dates from around 1850 to 1865. Gille established a strong reputation for intricately modelled biscuit figures and decorative vessels, earning a Prize Medal at the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London. The underside of the base bears his characteristic applied blue paste lozenge seal impressed with his initials, alongside painted factory numbers on the stopper plug. Standing approximately 36 cm high with the cover in place, the piece presents an impressive silhouette while retaining the crisp detailing typical of Parisian bisque. The cover has undergone professional restoration, while the main body remains in sound antique condition with light age-related surface wear. We ship internationally, tracked.
