The backrest rises in a serpentine, scalloped profile to a centered crest carved with a floral and ribbon cluster. Curling volutes flank the crest, and the carving continues down the frame as delicate, rhythmic detailing. Hand-woven cane fills the back and the curved, wraparound side panels, its fine octagonal weave glowing honey-gold against the dark wood and softening the light through the openwork. The arms sweep forward in smooth, scrolled lines, with carved floral accents at the supports. A shaped apron with beaded molding and flowing carved scrolls runs along the front. The long cane seat rests on eight slender cabriole legs, each carved with a floral cap and ending in a gracefully curled foot. The outer sections splay outward and curve around the ends, giving the piece a gently bowed, multi-seat silhouette that suits conversation.
