This petite owl is hand-cast in foundry stone with a bronze-finished patina, giving the piece the appearance and character of aged bronze while retaining the sculptural detail of Boulton’s original work. The sculpture is artist signed on the base and retains its felted underside.

Boulton was a multidisciplinary artist, sculptor, painter, taxidermist, and teacher. Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, he studied at the National Academy of Design in New York and later served in France during World War I. He eventually established himself in Westport, Connecticut, where he became associated with the region’s significant mid-century art community. His work is particularly recognized for its sensitive and characterful depictions of animals.

The sculpture is in excellent vintage condition with an attractive aged patina. See less
