The chair features a classic slatted back rising above a generously proportioned seat, creating the distinctive silhouette associated with traditional English Windsor furniture. The open armrests provide additional comfort while maintaining the chair's elegant and restrained country character. Raised upon finely turned legs united by supporting stretchers, the chair has a strong and stable construction while retaining beautifully balanced proportions. Particularly attractive is the elm itself, displaying pronounced natural grain and figuring throughout. The timber has developed rich, warm tones and a mature patina that enhance the authentic character of this 19th-century piece. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its 19th-century origin.
