Constructed from warm golden oak, the body is formed to evoke the traditional wooden barrels historically used for storing and serving beer. Copper banding encircles the exterior, providing both decorative contrast and an authentic coopered appearance. The stein is completed by a hinged flip-top lid, adding further character to its distinctive barrel-form construction. The combination of richly toned oak and naturally aged copper gives the piece an appealing rustic patina. Barrel-form drinking vessels draw directly upon traditional cooperage, translating the familiar proportions and construction of full-size beer casks into a smaller decorative object. The design has particularly strong associations with European beer and tavern culture. Presented in lovely antique condition with appropriate signs of age and historic handling. Due to its age, the piece is recommended for decorative display rather than contemporary drinking use.
