The generously proportioned rectangular top provides an excellent writing and working surface and is inset with handsome red leather, creating a sophisticated contrast against the warm tones of the surrounding walnut. The desk incorporates nine drawers in total, with four arranged to either side of the central kneehole and a larger central drawer positioned beneath the writing surface. This practical configuration provides substantial organised storage for documents, stationery and personal items. Each drawer retains its original brass handles, providing attractive period detailing and complementing the rich colour of the walnut. Particularly appealing is the walnut itself, displaying pronounced natural grain, attractive figuring and warm tonal variation throughout. An appealing aged patina further enhances the depth and character of the timber. The generous 51 cm wide kneehole provides a comfortable central seating position, while the desk's 121.5 cm overall width offers an excellent working area without requiring the considerable footprint of a larger executive desk. Very well constructed with a reassuringly substantial presence and presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. A highly desirable and practical desk combining extensive storage, fine walnut and a classic leather writing surface. Ideally suited to a study, library, home office or sophisticated residential interior. Please note that the desk is of single-piece construction and does not dismantle. Its dimensions should therefore be considered carefully when planning access and transportation.
