The central medallion depicts the traditional Three Friends of Winter motif in underglaze cobalt blue and white. Surrounding cartouches incorporate shishi lions rendered in iron-red glaze and gilding, together with green overglaze enamel decoration. Further panels depict garden scenes populated with figures executed in rich enamels, iron red and gold. The reverse is decorated with a strong cobalt-blue foliate design and bears a four-character Fuku mark associated with wishes for happiness and longevity. The underside also retains kiln-foot marks characteristic of the period. At 48 cm in diameter, this is a substantial and highly decorative example. Year: Mid-19th Century, circa 1800–1849 See less
