Hand-painted in underglaze cobalt blue, the jar features freely painted cartouches depicting an elegant garden scene with a bird and peony flowers. The surrounding surface is further embellished with stylised lotus flowers and scrolling stems. The underside carries a four-character Kangxi mark. The warm cobalt colouring and traditional rounded form give the jar a particularly strong decorative presence, while the detailed garden imagery provides considerable visual interest when viewed closely. Presented in very good condition, with an original firing crack to the rim that does not significantly detract from its appearance.
