Dating to circa 1880, the chest features a practical two-over-three drawer configuration, with two smaller drawers positioned above three graduated full-width drawers. Each retains its original handles, contributing considerably to the authentic period character of the piece. The painted surface has developed a wonderfully time-worn patina, with natural variations, marks and areas of wear that reflect more than a century of use. Rather than detracting from the piece, these characteristics give the chest an appealing rustic and individual appearance. Compact yet offering generous storage, all five drawers operate smoothly and the chest remains fully functional. Its restrained proportions make it particularly versatile for use within a bedroom, dressing room, hallway or country-style interior. Presented in good original antique condition with appropriate wear, marks and patination consistent with age and historic use. Structurally sound and ready for continued use.
