The stand features a compact square top measuring approximately 23.5 cm by 23.5 cm, providing an ideal surface for displaying a jardinière, potted plant, sculpture, lamp or decorative object. It is raised upon elegant tapered legs, creating a tall and refined silhouette characteristic of understated Edwardian design. The legs are united by a useful lower shelf, which provides additional display space while also contributing strength and stability to the construction. Throughout, the oak displays an attractive natural grain with a rich, warm colour and established patina, highlighting the character of the timber and quality of the craftsmanship. Standing 88 cm high while occupying a footprint of only 28 by 32 cm, the stand has excellent vertical presence without requiring significant floor space. Its slender proportions make it particularly suitable for a drawing room, hallway, conservatory, bedroom or entrance hall. Although originally intended as a plant or jardinière stand, its versatile proportions also make it suitable for displaying a lamp, sculpture, vase or other decorative object, allowing it to integrate easily into both traditional and contemporary interiors. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. A highly desirable example of Edwardian occasional furniture, combining beautifully aged oak, elegant tapered supports, a practical lower shelf and wonderfully versatile proportions.
