Expertly carved from hardwood and constructed from individually jointed sections, the snake retains its flexibility, allowing it to be arranged in a variety of naturalistic positions. The surface features deeply carved scale decoration extending along the body and terminating in a carefully modelled head. The wood has developed a warm aged patina that complements the hand-carved detailing and gives the piece considerable decorative character. Originally produced as a decorative carving, today it makes an unusual example of vintage folk art, ideal for display on a bookshelf, coffee table, cabinet of curiosities or within an eclectic interior. Presented in good vintage condition with appropriate signs of age and historic use. There is a small historic loss to the neck area.
