The upholstered top features an elaborate beadwork design worked in a subtle and carefully balanced palette. Traditionally associated with the accomplished domestic needlework produced by Victorian women, the decoration demonstrates considerable patience and craftsmanship. The beadwork is supported by a carved oak frame, providing an attractive contrast between the richly detailed textile surface and the warm tones of the timber. Presented in fair antique condition and structurally sturdy. There are areas of bead loss and a small section of carved decoration is missing from the frame, although this does not significantly detract from the overall appearance. Further wear is consistent with its considerable age and historic use. Dimensions: Height: 22.9 cm Width: 33 cm Depth: 22.9 cm Weight: Approximately 4 kg Date of Manufacture: circa 1860–1880 See less
