The vase displays characteristics traditionally associated with Kangxi-period porcelain, including rich cobalt-blue decoration, a hard, smooth white porcelain body and a well-defined, carefully formed foot rim. The form and decorative treatment are also strongly reminiscent of Kangxi wares. While these characteristics may suggest an early date, particularly fine reproductions of Kangxi porcelain were produced during the 19th century. The vase is therefore conservatively catalogued as Qing Dynasty rather than definitively attributed to the Kangxi period. An attractive and finely presented example of Chinese blue and white porcelain with strong Kangxi influence.
