The image depicts an armoured warrior saint, identified as either Saint Maurice or Saint Victor, presenting or accompanying a kneeling donor figure. The medieval subject matter and richly detailed composition complement the historicist and Pre-Raphaelite-inspired aesthetic popular within British decorative arts around the turn of the 20th century. Printed onto a compact wooden panel, the piece combines Old Master imagery with the decorative character associated with period interior objects retailed by Liberty of London. Its small scale makes it particularly suitable for display as part of a collection of historic decorative panels, religious imagery or early Liberty furnishings and decorative objects. Presented in good antique condition, with minor wear to the extremities and appropriate signs of age consistent with its period. Dimensions: Height: 15.9 cm (6.25 in) Width: 14 cm (5.5 in) See less
