The open-fronted design provides five useful shelf levels, offering generous storage and display space for books, ceramics, collectibles, photographs or other decorative objects while keeping the contents readily accessible. Each shelf is well proportioned, with approximately 20 to 20.5 cm of vertical clearance, making the bookcase particularly suitable for smaller books and decorative pieces. Throughout, the oak displays an attractive natural grain with a rich, warm colour and established patina, highlighting the character of the timber and quality of the traditional construction. One of the bookcase's most appealing features is its unusually shallow depth. Measuring just 19 cm deep and 60 cm wide, it provides substantial vertical storage while occupying remarkably little floor space. This makes it particularly useful for narrower hallways, studies, offices, bedrooms or living spaces where a conventional deeper bookcase may be impractical. Standing 119 cm high, the bookcase has a well-balanced and versatile scale, allowing it to provide useful storage without dominating the surrounding interior. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. A highly desirable and practical example of Edwardian furniture, combining beautifully grained oak, five open shelf levels and exceptionally versatile shallow proportions in a timeless design.
