Material: Solid Wood A substantial antique extending refectory dining table of traditional hayrake form, believed to date from the Edwardian period. Constructed from solid wood, the table features a generously proportioned oval dining surface supported by a characteristic hayrake-style base. The traditional form and substantial proportions give the table a strong country house character while providing ample space for larger gatherings. The table incorporates two extension leaves and reaches an impressive 258 cm in length when fully extended, comfortably accommodating up to ten diners. The leaves can be removed when a smaller dining configuration is required. The two extension leaves are slightly different in colour from the principal tabletop, having historically received considerably less exposure and use. This natural variation is consistent with removable leaves that have spent much of their life stored away. The table has been described as Edwardian, although its precise date of manufacture has not been established and this attribution should therefore be considered approximate. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use. There are no reported loose joints or evidence of woodworm.
