The table is particularly notable for its extensive hand-carved decoration. The deeply worked ornament incorporates a Green Man mask alongside primitive-style faces, a lion's head, flowers and scrolling garlands, creating a richly sculptural appearance. Further carved detailing extends to the distinctive raspberry-form legs, which provide a strong decorative foundation and complement the elaborate carving across the table. A single drawer is discreetly incorporated into the side, providing useful storage without interrupting the overall composition. An unusual and characterful example of early 18th-century English carved country furniture, distinguished by its extensive figurative and foliate decoration and attractive aged surface.
