The settle is extensively hand carved, with decorative lion heads accompanied by carved garlands and leaves. The tall fielded-panel back provides a strong architectural presence, while the scrolling arms continue the traditional character of the design. The piece retains its original back and is constructed as a single substantial section. A custom-made fabric seat cushion accompanies the settle and shows some wear from use.
