Walnut and Parcel-Gilt Occasional Table, circa 1920s Material: Walnut and parcel gilt A fine early 20th-century occasional table by the renowned English cabinetmakers Maple & Co., dating from the 1920s and retaining the maker’s label to the underside. Crafted from walnut, the table is particularly decorative, with parcel-gilt detailing providing an elegant contrast against the warm tone of the timber. The square top is framed by decorative garland motifs and rope-pattern edging, lending the piece a refined and classically inspired appearance. The table stands on substantial supports terminating in bun feet, completing its well-balanced form. The combination of richly figured walnut, restrained gilding and ornamental detailing makes this an attractive example of Maple & Co. furniture from the period.
