This generously sized example measures approximately 1.5 inches in diameter and was historically converted from commemorative coinage into a wearable piece of jewellery. The face is decorated with vibrant polychrome enamel, incorporating heraldic motifs and crowned shields against a richly coloured composition. A bold cobalt blue enamel border surrounds the central decoration and carries the Jubilee inscription, providing an attractive contrast to the heraldic imagery and giving the brooch considerable visual presence. The reverse is fitted with a traditional C-clasp pin fastening, applied as part of the historic conversion. Converting commemorative coins and medals into jewellery was an established decorative practice, allowing such pieces to be worn as personal keepsakes and mementos.
