The underside retains the manufacturer's extensive marking identifying Flaminaire, Quercia Paris and French manufacture. The Gentry is historically significant as an early commercially produced butane gas table lighter. Its substantial desk-sized proportions and handsome combination of silver plate and leather make it particularly attractive as a collectible decorative object. This example remains in original condition. Its working condition has not been tested, making it most appropriate as a collectible or for specialist servicing before use.
