The sculpture recreates the form and mechanical complexity of an early motor car through an imaginative arrangement of gears, wheels, levers, housings and other salvaged machine elements. Several components retain their mechanical movement, adding an engaging kinetic quality to the piece. Rather than concealing the origins of its materials, the construction celebrates them. Individual mechanical components remain clearly recognisable while simultaneously forming the bodywork, chassis and detailing of the automobile, giving the sculpture a distinctly industrial character.
