Material: glass, metal and unidentified composite material a striking vintage sculptural coffee table featuring a substantial three-dimensional elephant supporting a circular glass tabletop. The elephant is solid and notably heavy, giving the piece a substantial presence and suggesting a well-made decorative construction. The precise material of the elephant has not been identified and is therefore intentionally left unattributed. The prominent tusks appear to be brass or brass-finished metal, providing an attractive contrast to the grey-toned body. A circular clear glass top rests above the sculptural elephant base, allowing the detailed animal form to remain the principal decorative feature. Combining furniture with figurative sculpture, the table has considerable visual impact and would make an unusual statement piece within an eclectic, maximalist or vintage interior. The exact date of manufacture is unknown, although its design and appearance suggest a probable date within the 1960s or 1970s. Presented in very good vintage condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use. There are no reported chips or breaks.
