Hand-painted golfers, a caddy and golf bags wrap around the spherical body of this Gray’s Pottery lamp. The cream glaze carries simplified figures in green, blue, black and russet, with narrow green lines around the foot. Made in England in the 1930s, the lamp has the ‘Golfers’ decoration attributed to Susie Cooper. The metal fitting appears to be period, while the bayonet bulb holder is a later replacement with a reported earth connection. The ceramic body retains clear colours, with fine glaze crazing and minor wear. More noticeable darkening within the crazing is visible underneath. The electrical components should be checked by a qualified electrician before use.
