The bookcase is decorated with prominent carved lion-head motifs accompanied by flowers, fruit and garlands, creating a highly decorative façade while retaining the robust character associated with traditional country oak furniture. The open interior is fitted with adjustable shelves, allowing the storage and display space to be configured as required. The bookcase also retains its original back. Constructed as a single piece, this is an impressive example of mid-19th-century carved oak furniture, combining practical storage with bold sculptural decoration.
