The composition centres on an elegant female figure posed beneath the curved lamp arm, giving the piece a distinctly theatrical quality characteristic of decorative lighting from the art deco period. The chrome-plated metalwork provides a sleek, reflective finish and emphasises the graceful lines of the design. Suspended from the curved arm is an unusual hand-moulded italian art glass shade with a softly marbled appearance and strongly geometric stepped form. When illuminated, the textured glass produces a warm diffused glow while revealing the depth and variation of its moulded surface. The lamp stands on a substantial stepped base and retains period bakelite components together with a b22 bayonet-fit bulb holder. It has been professionally rewired and is reported to be in full working order.
