Small sailing boats glide across the calm water, while figures gather along the sandy shore, bringing life and intimacy to the scene. In the distance, the coastline stretches towards the hazy silhouette of Mount Vesuvius, evoking the unmistakable atmosphere of the Gulf of Naples.

Allegretti combines a delicate sensitivity to light with lively, carefully observed brushwork. The soft blues of the sea and sky contrast with the warm ochre tones of the shore and the rich greens of the vegetation, creating a balanced composition full of depth and Mediterranean character.

Executed in oil on panel, the painting reflects the enduring appeal of traditional Neapolitan landscape painting, combining descriptive detail with a gentle, nostalgic mood. The ornate giltwood frame, featuring a distressed gold finish and a contrasting dark inner border, enhances the work’s classical decorative presence.

Dating from the 1980s, the painting measures 22 × 40 cm, while the overall framed dimensions are 52 × 34 cm.

An evocative Italian coastal painting, ideal for collectors of Neapolitan art and for interiors seeking a small yet characterful work inspired by the timeless beauty of Naples.
