The rectangular top provides a useful surface for a lamp, books or decorative objects while retaining a light and understated appearance. Beneath, a generously proportioned lower shelf provides additional display or storage space without compromising the elegant simplicity of the design. The table is raised upon four square legs, creating a restrained and beautifully balanced silhouette that allows the natural quality of the timber to take prominence. The mahogany displays attractive natural figuring throughout, complemented by deep, warm tones and a pleasing aged character. Solidly constructed and presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. Its particularly versatile proportions make the table suitable as a side table, lamp table, bedside table or occasional table within both traditional and contemporary interiors.
