The rectangular top provides a generous and practical workspace and is inset with a handsome red leather writing surface, creating an attractive contrast against the deep, warm tones of the surrounding mahogany. The table incorporates seven drawers in total, arranged as three drawers to either side with a larger central drawer positioned above the kneehole. This practical configuration provides excellent organised storage for correspondence, documents, stationery and personal items. Each drawer retains its original brass handles, providing attractive period detailing and complementing the rich colour of the mahogany. The writing table is raised upon sturdy square-section legs, creating a restrained and beautifully proportioned silhouette while providing excellent strength and stability. Particularly appealing is the mahogany itself, displaying pronounced natural grain and attractive figuring throughout. Deep, warm colour and an appealing aged patina give the timber considerable richness and character. Very well constructed and presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. At 102.5 cm wide, this is a particularly useful size, offering a generous writing surface and substantial drawer storage without requiring the footprint of a larger pedestal desk. Ideally suited to a study, library, home office, bedroom or sophisticated period interior. Dimensions: Height: 75 cm Width: 102.5 cm Depth: 56.5 cm Knee Height: 56.5 cm See less
