This striking example of early 20th-century weaving represents the transition toward modernism seen in many antique rugs of the period. Its generous proportions and luxurious wool pile speak to the quality expected from textiles produced during this dynamic era.

The commanding field is defined by a rich, saturated indigo ground, providing a dramatic backdrop for the stylized floral and vine motifs rendered in shades of russet and golden tan. The use of this deep, compelling blue color rugs creates a sophisticated contrast that is both visually arresting and historically characteristic of Art Deco palettes.

The composition employs a sophisticated allover design, where scrolling vines and abstract chrysanthemum-like blossoms fill the entire central plane without the interruption of a central medallion. This dense repetition lends the piece a sense of continuous movement and visual depth, balancing the bold color choices with intricate knotting and high-quality wool.

Framed by a complex series of borders, including a prominent Greek key fretwork pattern, the rug anchors its modern field design in classical geometry. As a substantial example of room size rugs, this hand-knotted wool textile is perfectly suited to define a large living space or dining area, offering both warmth and unparalleled historical elegance.
